Bugaksan is the tallest of the four inner mountains encircling Seoul and was regarded as an auspicious site when the Joseon dynasty chose the location for Gyeongbokgung Palace at its foot. Sections of the old Hanyang city wall trace its ridges, and a drive along Bugak Skyway from Changuimun Gate rewards visitors with lush forests and sweeping views over the city.
