Weekly holiday pay (주휴수당) applies when you’re contracted for 15+ hours a week and complete your agreed schedule for that week without unapproved absence. It’s calculated as 8 hours’ pay at your hourly wage for a full 40-hour-or-more week, scaled down proportionally for shorter contracted weeks (contracted hours ÷ 40 × 8, capped at 8). It applies regardless of nationality, visa type, or employer size — many part-time and foreign workers are underpaid simply because this is left out of their pay. If you believe you’re owed unpaid weekly holiday pay, you can file a complaint with the Ministry of Employment and Labor (1350) or through the Nodong OK / labor office in your area.
