Ganghwasanseong Fortress was originally built when the Goryeo court relocated its capital to Ganghwa Island to resist Mongol invasions, making it a site steeped in centuries of history. Walking along the remaining walls and gates, including the South and West Gates, visitors can trace the island's long-standing role as a strategic military stronghold through the Joseon era. The scenic fortress trail changes with the seasons, offering a rewarding blend of nature walk and historical exploration.
