Once a site of forced labor and resource exploitation during Japanese colonial rule, Gwangmyeong Cave later served as a fermented shrimp storage facility after its closure in 1972 before being transformed into a history-culture theme park by the city in 2011. Today it draws over a million visitors annually and has even appeared in Korean variety shows, making it a must-see spot for K-culture fans exploring beyond Seoul.
