Cheonjinam Sacred Site · 천진암 성지

Nestled at the foot of Mt. Aengja in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do, Cheonjinam is regarded as the birthplace of Korean Catholicism. It was here that Confucian scholars in the late Joseon era gathered to study Western learning and faith, laying the foundation for the Catholic Church in Korea. Visitors can wander through peaceful forest trails dotted with chapels and monuments, making it a serene spot for reflection and history.

경기도 광주 앵자봉 자락에 위치한 천진암 성지는 한국 천주교회가 처음 싹튼 역사적인 장소입니다. 조선 후기 학자들이 이곳에 모여 서양 학문과 신앙을 연구하며 한국 천주교의 뿌리를 세운 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 울창한 숲과 조용한 산길을 따라 걷다 보면 성당과 기념 조형물들을 만날 수 있어 신앙과 자연을 함께 느낄 수 있습니다.
