Pungnammun Gate once served as the southern entrance to Jeonju's old fortress walls during the Joseon Dynasty, originally rebuilt in 1734 after being destroyed in war and renamed in 1768. Though damaged during Japanese colonial-era redevelopment, a three-year restoration completed in 1980 revived its graceful hip-and-gable roof and traditional wooden craftsmanship. Standing proudly in the heart of downtown Jeonju, it offers visitors a striking glimpse into the city's historic past.
