Hwaseong Haenggung Palace · 화성행궁
Built by King Jeongjo after relocating his father's tomb to Suwon, Hwaseong Haenggung Palace was the largest and grandest of Korea's temporary royal palaces, sometimes called the 'auxiliary palace' to Gyeongbokgung. Nestled at the foot of Paldalsan Mountain, it served as a local government office in peacetime and a royal residence during the king's visits, forming the heart of the UNESCO-listed Hwaseong Fortress. Visitors can enjoy traditional archery, wear historical costumes, and ring the Hyowon Bell for an immersive taste of Joseon-era culture.
정조가 아버지 사도세자의 묘를 수원으로 옮기며 세운 화성행궁은 국내 행궁 중 가장 크고 웅장한 규모를 자랑해 '경복궁의 부궁'이라 불리기도 했습니다. 팔달산 자락에 자리한 이곳은 평소 지방 관청으로 쓰이다 정조의 행차 때 임시 거처가 되었으며, 세계문화유산 화성의 중심 건축물이기도 합니다. 국궁 체험, 전통 의상 착용, 효원의 종 타종 등 다양한 체험을 통해 조선 시대 문화를 생생하게 느껴볼 수 있습니다.
