Opened in 2021 as the first national museum in northern Gyeonggi Province, the National Folk Museum of Korea in Paju takes the unique form of an open storage facility that doubles as an exhibition space. With over one million items ranging from everyday folk artifacts like millstones and jars to intangible materials such as photographs and recordings, it stands as Korea's largest folk archive center spread across 15 storage rooms. Visitors can peek into usually hidden collection storage areas through its open and visible vaults, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at museum conservation.

2021년 문을 연 국립민속박물관 파주는 경기 북부 최초의 국립박물관으로, 전시 기능을 갖춘 개방형 수장고라는 독특한 형태로 운영됩니다. 맷돌과 항아리 같은 생활 유물부터 사진과 영상 등 무형 자료까지 100만 점이 넘는 소장품을 15개 수장고에 보관하고 있어 국내 최대 규모의 민속자료센터로 꼽힙니다. 열린 수장고와 보이는 수장고를 통해 평소 볼 수 없던 유물 보관 현장을 직접 들여다볼 수 있는 것이 특별한 매력입니다.
